
In Portuguese a "pousada" is a small hotel with a few rooms. Our Pousada Poesia is equipped with every comfort. The hotel is located in the neighborhood Itapoá, close to the lighthouse with the same name, on Rua da Poesia (Street of Poetry) 118, hence our name. This neighborhood is one of the few places in Salvador where homes are right on the beach.
Our location, building and staff provide a relaxed atmosphere and offer our guests more personalized attention than a bigger hotel. The staff of has been trained to provide tourist information about Salvador to our guests. This includes restaurants, malls, shops, tours and other options, all with a personal touch.
The hotel Pousada Poesia is close to the Salvador’s airport (8 km), near the Fair (4 km), where the famous musical event "Festival de Verao de Salvado” is held in January. Itapoã, formerly a fishing village, has been integrated for years in the city of Salvador. It still looks and feels like a small village. Though it has all the amenities of the great city of Salvador, including banks, restaurants, shops, live music, gas station, internet cafes, mini malls, markets, fishing colony and beach bars.
The technique of Jaciara de Jesus Santos, the popular Cira, in preparation of local snacks, was learned from his mother, and it is now in its fourth generation. Born in Itapoá, the Baiana centralizes the production of acarajés, abarás and cocadas at home and sellsthese snacks at three locations in Salvador. In September, a full carurú is offered by the Baiana in honor of St. Cosmas and Damian.

Year after year, this restaurant has been chosen by a culinary jury of the weekly magazine "Veja Salvador" as the best seafood and remains one of the top ten in Salvador. Picuí is a city with a tradition of meat dried in the sun. The family of Lais Leal come from there and coordinates three restaurants of the same name in Salvador. The Itapoá location is managed by the family member. It has a simple hall with large balcony with sea view, on the corner of the Dorival Caymmi square. Already considered the largest group of African dance in Salvador by the New York Times, the seat of Malé de Bale is one kilometer from the hotel Pousada Poesia. In November starts the season of shows to prepare the band for the carnival, sometimes with distinguished guests and celebrities such as Carlinhos Brown and Margaret Menezes.
This lagoon is located one kilometer from the hotel Pousada Poesia and is picture postcard perfect. Surrounded with brilliant white sands, it’s e deep fresh water lake where local women traditionally used to come to wash her clothes and then lay them out to dry in the sun. There are several bars and restaurants with live music every weekend.
